Ask And Ye Shall Receive Meaning
In Matthew 7:7, Jesus had this to say to his followers: “Ask and you shall receive, seek and you will find, knock and it will be opened”. As Christians, Jesus reveals that our relationship with God is like a son and his parents. And so in some instances, we have the right to ask for our needs.
Ask and you shall receive: As parents, our children sometimes come to us with their desires. So our first step is to ask. Once we ask and it is in the will of God, we shall receive. But what happens when we ask and we don’t?
Seek and you will find: When we ask and we don’t receive, our next step is to look for what we desire in the word of God. Taking God by his word is one of the greatest weapons in the hand of a Christian.
Knock and it will be opened: There are times when it seems our prayer request does not seem to work. This is when our third step is important. There was a story Jesus narrated about a woman who needed help from a lawyer. After asking for some time, the lawyer seems adamant. So from time to time, the woman kept visiting the lawyer till he saw that the woman was disturbing him with her request so must help. This is what the third step is. Keep knocking with prayers till your desires are answered.
